The 3 LCD Hitachi ED-A100 (ED for education) features space-conquering technology that dramatically shortens the distance between the projector and screen, thus eliminating inadvertent "shadow puppet" interactivity between audience and projected media.
As a result of aspheric lens design which Hitachi dubs "free-shaped," aberrations evident in traditional lenses used very near to the screen, are virtually eliminated. This enables the unit to fill a 60" screen at the astoundingly short distance of 16 1/2 inches (42cm). The close proximity maximizes the 1024 x 768 XGA resolution and the impressive 2000 ANSI Lumens of brightness while the 7 watt audio output removes the need to connect to external speakers.
Expected lamp life is 2000-3000 hours depending on mode (whisper/standard), and when it does need changing, down time is minimized and lamping-up facilitated by a unit-top, access door which you'll appreciate in ceiling-mounted situations.
Other features that make the ED-A100 ideal for educational, business or institutional use are network capability via an RJ-45 connection and RS232 and USB mouse control ports. Keeping tabs on routine maintenance is made simple by scheduling periodic email notifications. My Image (E-shot) enables IT control of the projector and the ability to display images campus or facility-wide.
There's a security factor that can't be ignored when using equipment in any public or semi-public place and you'll rest easier knowing that a user PIN lock and a built in security bar are onboard, while a transition detector issues an alert when the projector is moved. The "My Screen " feature which displays selected images such as a school or company name can also be tamper-proofed via its own PIN.
The ED-A100 provides functionality, control and convenience in a sleek package which will complement any environment.
